More about Tim Porter Timothy Porter is a self taught musician and songwriter from Murray, UT. He has been writing music and performing on both the piano and guitar for over ten years. His styles of music include piano solo, religious, and contemporary folk music. Born and raised in Murray as the youngest of 12 children, Timothy started singing and performing at a very young age. After a couple of years of struggling through piano lessons, he joyfully quit when he was 10 and didn't play the piano again until he was 16. But when he started up again, he quickly became very frustrated with his inability to read music. He then started playing by ear and exploring the creative side of music. Right out of high school he taught himself to play the guitar and began writing music on his second instrument of choice. After spending two years in Italy as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Timothy recorded his first album Pathways the summer of 2000 in Wenatchee, WA. Engineered by his brother, Marc, this album was a critical step to give Timothy the confidence and experience to begin sharing his music on a larger scale. He began performing throughout Utah and sharing his life experiences through music. In the fall of 2002 Timothy finished his second album "Under the Sun" recorded by Rich Bischoff of Studio 14 in Logan, Utah. Timothy now resides with his wife Jessica in Vineyard, UT. Some of his most recent musical accomplishments include writing and producing a multi media musical production for the Wenatchee Stake Youth Conference called A Tribute to Christ and participating in the Joseph Smith Celebration for the Sunset Heights Stake with his song What He Knew. |
