More about Matt Whitney

My name is Matt Whitney. I have a career in the US Army. I am currently stationed in Virginia and serving as a Foreign Area Officer to China. I have five amazing kids and am married to the former Patricia Erekson of Payson, Utah. When not traveling, I enjoy making music. Having written over 70 songs, and performed original works for various youth firesides, I was finally persuaded to produce a demo-CD and send it in. The song included here is for my kids, but I hope you like it just the same.

Musical Background:
• Five aggregate years of piano lessons and my mother’s ear for music.
• Army male-vocalist of the year, 1993.
• Regional theatre credits since Adult-hood:
-Working (Mason & Migrant Worker)
-1776 (Richard Henry Lee – 100 performances)
• Other than that, not much qualifies me except a real love for it.

I hope that my music is unpretentious but solid enough to lean on. I think that some people miss out when they equate “spiritual music” with milk-toast music. I keep wondering when we Latter-Day Saints will drop our defenses and really “Praise the Lord!” I know I have more than a few reasons to praise Him.
