Her songwriting stems from an uncommonly deep well of experience and insight, just one reason why it touches so many people. With the purest of voices, and guitar in hand, she shares her songs with audiences of all ages at concerts and firesides throughout the west. Lyndsi Mitchell Houskeeper is a well-known singer/songwriter from Southern Utah, and was chosen as one of the Top New LDS Artists. Her most recent recording entitled “Finding Miracles” is a collection of inspired songs all written and performed by Lyndsi. Lyndsi has also released a Christmas CD entitled “Christmas Heirlooms”, and her debut recording is entitled “What Is Love”. Lyndsi writes the music and lyrics for each of her songs, and is excited to be self-producing her fourth recording, due out this fall. The most rewarding part of writing music, however, is sharing it with people. Lyndsi has stated that sharing her songs and the stories behind them at firesides and concerts is a chance to give back. Her life is filled with blessings from a loving Heavenly Father, and she is grateful to be able to share her testimony and gratitude through the messages in her songs. She states, “It has been very humbling to see some of these songs really become a part of people’s lives, and give them strength and comfort.”

Lyndsi has been performing since the age of three, where she sang at a Regional Conference with President Marvin J. Ashton of the Quorum of the Twelve presiding. Upon finishing her song, she sat down and saw Elder Ashton wink at her, to which she replied, “Look Mom! Marvin just winked at me!” This small act of kindness inspired and encouraged Lyndsi to continue to sing. Lyndsi was highly involved with music throughout high school and received several awards for vocal and instrumental performance. She was a Sterling Scholar Award recipient, and graduated from Dixie State College on both an academic scholarship, and a music scholarship given by the Southwest Guild of Music.

It wasn’t until after she was married, and had her sweet son however, that Lyndsi realized her ability to write music, and convey messages of hope, love, and reassurance. Her marriage in the Temple to her sweet husband, Darin, and the birth of their son, Jace were Lyndsi’s greatest blessings and fondest dreams, now reality. You can hear the happiness she feels in each of her songs.

Lyndsi’s priority is her family, but she is grateful to have the chance to share her music, and hopefully touch the lives of others. Lyndsi has written and performed songs for several organizations including Relief Society and Young Women’s organizations in many stakes, the Jubilee of Trees, the PTA, and many others. Lyndsi is currently working on a compilation CD of popular songs, the proceeds of which will go to Primary Children’s Medical Center. Lyndsi states that she is just grateful to be able to help people doing something that she loves.

Don’t miss “Finding Miracles” available at Deseret Book, and watch for her exciting new CD this fall.
