About the Artist Name: Jeremiah Loki (low-key) Mulholland History: I was conceived in a VW Camper in Arcadia National Park, and was born a year after my dad's favorite song, "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night, became a number one hit. My parents were hippies. (Don't let them tell you any different. If you are going to name a kid Loki, and then give his twin brother a name like Geronimo, you have to have been a hippie.) Around the ripe old age of two, as legend goes, my twin and I were accidentally introduced to some sort of "herb." Since no one was certain who ate it, they decided to just watch and see who tripped out first. Well, neither of us acted any different than the other (we were both rather hyper as it was), so they decided we both ate it - and life went on. I spent a great number of my summers traveling around in a purple VW Bus with the seats ripped out and beanbags thrown in (never mind wearing seat belts) and managed to see forty-nine states by the time I was eight. I grew up listening to such artists as Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce, The Eagles, CCR and the likes and continue, to this day, to enjoy any and every commercial top forty tune that comes across the radio. I started writing my own songs around my junior year of highschool. I had my friends play for me but I quickly learned that if I wanted the guitar to sound the way I wanted it to, I'd better learn to play myself. In 1992, while at college I performed in front of an audience for the first time. It was a open-mic competition. With another guitarist to do leads and harmony we performed "RiverFlows" and Jimmy Buffets "Margaritaville". It was a good night and the $100 we received for taking first place really boosted my confidence level. During the summer of '92 I spent a couple of months in California with the family guitar god, Moe. The greatest guitar player I've ever known. He taught me alot that summer. It was there that I came into the playing style I use today. In the summer of '94 I met up with Ray Hepinstall, a good friend of mine, who took me into a studio to record some songs of his and a couple of mine. It was the first time I had ever heard the potential of what my songs could sound like when played and recorded by professionals. In '95 I met my wife and in '96 I married her. We've got three wonderful kids and live in the great state of Utah. And now we're up to date on my short history. In the spring of 2001 I went back to California to record "Figured Out" and two days later I came out with a finished product. Oh, and for those that might be wondering. Loki
is the Norse God of Mischief. I think it was Thors son or
nephew or something. |
