About Julie de Azevedo For singer/songwriter Julie de Azevedo, songwriting and performing are ways of examining life’s journey. Just as life alternately presents times of joy, sorrow, celebration, and reflection, Julie beleives music should do the same. Julie’s latest collection presents a time to reflect and a time to express her gratitude. WINDOW TO HIS LOVE, Julie’s fifth major release, is a compilation of her most requested inspirational songs. Accompanied by her father, composer Lex de Azevedo, WINDOW TO HIS LOVE reflects Julie’s personal perspective on the memories and highlights of her career. A natural composer, Julie has been writing songs since childhood, composing on piano, and more recently on guitar. Over the years she has written and performed in numerous projects, including albums, movies, television, and radio. Since 1998, Julie has been awarded nine prestigious Pearl Awards from the Faith Centered Music Association. Many of Julie’s songs have been performed and recorded by other artists. Her song "Mercy’s Arms" was recorded by the legendary Gladys Knight on the album Many Different Roads. Strongly evident in Julie’s songwriting is the theme of family relationships that reflect her life as a daughter, wife, and mother. "My writing often springs from the desire to give form to a powerful emotion. I write from my own experience, but the ultimate compliment is when someone hears a song of mine and says, ‘did you write that about ME?’" Daughter of famed producer, composer, and performer Lex de Azevedo, Julie grew up singing while her father accompanied her on the piano. For the first time in many years, father and daughter are revisiting those roles. Singing and performing with her father this time around has been a sweet experience for Julie. As a daughter, wife, and mother to three beautiful children, it gives her great joy to celebrate the family and the importance of family relationships. Backing up the passion and content of Julie’s songs are a Masters Degree in Social Work, a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, and experience counseling at-risk individuals, couples, and families. Julie, her husband Jeff, and their children, live in Salt Lake City, UT.
