The Elastic Band (Rick Dalton)
LDS Music World presents the music of LDS musician
Rick Dalton and The Elastic Band
Rick Dalton was born in Delta, Utah and began his lifelong love of music
as a cornet and baritone player in junior high and high school. Later
he changed to percussion and was the drummer in a band in El Centro, California,
which played every weekend at a local teen club. He picked up the guitar
from band members, and played in bands off and on for over thirty years
while he completed a career in law enforcement. Now a school teacher,
he started a band to give students a chance to perform, and began writing
songs about ten years ago. His group, The Elastic Band, performs regularly
for weddings, parties, corporate events and benefit concerts. Rick is
a member of the LDS Church, and lives in Mesa, Arizona. “Music is
therapy for me”, Rick says. “My songs are expressions of my
life experiences. It’s sad that so many people die with their music
still inside of them.” His songs are sung by members of the band.

Lyrics
for "The One I Need"
The
One I Need
I get up every morning
Same thing on my mind
I wonder if I’ll ever see
Wonder if I’ll ever find…the one I need
I see
the couples in the park
Walking hand in hand
I’m just sittin’ here in the dark
Singin’ in this band…to the one I need.
Lord
I ain’t askin’ much
This ain’t no case of greed
She don’t have to be the one I want..
Just the one I need.
I may
never strike it rich,
I’m just an average guy
I’d be the richest man I know
Just to look her in the eye…she’s the one I need
Solo
Though
you may be far away
Somehow I can see
I feel you in the blind of night
You’re the one for me…You’re the one I need….repeat
and fade
