From the Artist: When I first began writing music, I wrote
to be admired. I wanted people to hear my stuff and be impressed
with me. I have realized since that it really doesn't matter if
people are impressed with me at all. What really counts is the message
in the music. That message might be a very serious and thought-provoking
one, or it might be a silly, fun, feel-good one. I've realized that
I cannot create emotions in people. All I can do is bring out the
emotions they already feel. The goal of my music is to make people
laugh, cry, sigh, ponder, dance, smile, giggle, relate, and enjoy.
Like others of my generation, I grew up with music videos, loud
car stereos, and bigger than life recording stars. It is undeniable
that influences such as these have affected the way I write. But
they are no longer the reason or goal for which I write. Looking
back on everything I have been blessed with in this world, it is
obvious that I owe everything that I have, including my music, to
my Father in Heaven. Even though not all of my music is about God
and religion, it is my sincere hope that all of it is pleasing to
Him and worthy of the talent he has given me. |
