About Becky Garrett

Becky was born in Bountiful, Utah and was thrown into a world of all Garrett boys- her dad and four brothers - thus leaving her no choice but to be somewhat of a tomboy. Mom was not so thrilled with the tomboy thing, since she had waited a long time for a girl to dress up and enjoy girl things with. Music, though, became their common bond, so at a young age Becky started performing, and this is where her love for music developed.

When she was fourteen, she was involved with Kenneth Cope’s “Greater Than Us All.” The lyrics and music touched her so much that she decided she wanted to share her testimony through music as well.

So, at 16 she completed her first album, “Gentle,” and began doing youth conferences and firesides all over the country. During this process, she had the opportunity to sing on the EFY albums “Return With Honor” and “Living the Legacy,” as well as Kenneth Cope’s “Women At the Well” and an EFY compilation album entitled “Alleluia.”

After high school graduation, she decided to go to college where she became involved with a group that performed “My Servant, Joseph,” playing the part of Emma. As an EFY counselor that summer, she also had the wonderful opportunity of helping the young people feel the spirit through music.

When her missionary returned from Italy, she married and began focusing on her husband’s schooling, performing when she had time. At Clint’s urging, she squeezed enough time into her busy schedule to create her second album, “Find.”

“I needed to sing again, to lap up drops of the spirit that came from each note, each word. I would get to the studio late… exhausted… and go home renewed and exhilarated - ready to be a better wife, mother, Young Women leader, and neighbor.”

Life will be just as busy and challenging while her husband attends medical school and she stays home with her two children, Grace and Garrett, but her brothers and her dad taught her a long time ago to “buck up and take it!”
