Aaron Edson
LDS Music World presents the music of LDS artist
Aaron Edson
"Show
Him" was inspired by President Hinckley's address to the youth
of the church about the "6 Be's" that we must live in order
to overcome the trials we have today. The lyrics recount many of the
main themes of the talk, from the point of view of a listener whose
life was touched by it. Because of the power and scope of the Prophet's
message, "Show Him" is intended to further engrave the message
of the address into the hearts of those who listen that the trials we
as youth face today are the most easily overcome in all of recent history,
if we simply learn and live certain guidelines.
Born in Michigan and raised in Wisconsin, Aaron Edson has been a musician
all his life. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Caracas, Venezuela. He attended Brigham Young University
before leaving to pursue a music career in Los Angeles. He is now a
professional music producer as well as a songwriter. His recording studio,
One South Studios, is located in Pasadena, California.

Aaron's debut CD, "Wondering", brings a fresh, new
sound to the world of contemporary LDS music. The album takes
the listener on a soul-searching journey, featuring a wide range
of pop feels over its 11 songs. The gospel messages never seem
heavy-handed or super-imposed over pop music. Rather, the songs
are organic expressions of life today as seen through the eyes
of a gifted, young LDS artist.
The
title track is a pop/rock tune with a compelling arrangement
and an almost post-modern feel that has earned Edson respect
in the Los Angeles music industry. Its subject is a soul-searching
individual whose prayers are answered by the Holy Ghost and
whose "wondering" is set aside by an assurance that "He's there"
(listen closely to the background vocals in the finale and fade
out and you'll hear those words beautifully articulated by Brooke
White, another LDS artist with a promising pop career ahead
of her). The album also features a re-engineered version of
"Show Him", a song popular among the youth of the
church for its reminder of the prophet's "6 Be's"
admonition (be grateful, smart, clean, true, humble and prayerful).
The
music throughout the album is extremely listenable, and though
some of the tunes would not be appropriate for Sunday services,
all are appropriate as a replacement for pop music with lyrics
that frequently degrade or set aside the values of the church.
If
you have found yourself enjoying some of today's music on the
radio, only to be disappointed in the messages conveyed, you
are in for a treat with "Wondering". And who knows?
As fresh and enjoyable as Edson's music is, don't be surprised
if some of the songs do end up making it to the airwaves.

Lyrics - "Show Him"
(The "Six Be's" Song)
Words and Music by Aaron Edson
Walkin down life's lonely road
The road I will travel as I grow old
Every choice that I make every turn that I take
Will mean much more as I walk on.
But even now I know I need
Some help and direction, a friend indeed
He's fought the good fight and now tonight
He will teach me a brand new song
CHORUS:
Be Smart and Grateful,
Be Clean and be True
Be Humble and Prayerful
In all you do
You're a Child of God
And He loves you
So Show Him,
Show Him you love Him too
Every day I seem to see
A brand new temptation Hangin over me
But I'll try with my might and I will choose the right
Cause he says that I can today.
And every time I kneel to pray
And ask for the guidance I need that day
I'll remember the words that my heart has heard
Our brother say today.
(Repeat Chorus)
And every morning on His knees
The prophet offers mighty pleas
He holds the hand whose power frees
my soul
And as I listen to His Servant's prayer,
That Jesus might my burdens bear
That God will take my hand and care to lead me safely home,
(Repeat Chorus)
I'll be Smart and Grateful
I'll be clean and true
I'll be humble and I will pray
So I can Show Him
Yes I'll Show Him
Oh, let's show Him
Show him we love him too
